About

Wilson Bell teaches modern European history, Russian history, and global topics courses ("The Concentration Camp" and "Communism and the Environment") at Dickinson College. He received his PhD in 2011 from the University of Toronto. His research centers around the informal practices (black market activity, data falsifications, illicit relationships, exchanges of favors, and so on) that were crucial to the Gulag system during the Stalin era. He is currently revising his doctoral thesis into a monograph tentatively titled, "The Gulag, Total War, and the Formation of Soviet Siberia."
